Dan Clifton is an acclaimed film-maker, recognised for his powerful storytelling and singular creative vision.

Recent work includes forthcoming short film The Calculus of Love, a mathematical thriller written by Dan and starring Keith Allen. He also directed recent drama-documentaries Escape from Turkey and Human Body: Pushing the Limits, which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy and RTS award for Excellence in Visual Effects. His C4 film about Tory spin doctor Amanda Platell, telling the inside story of the Conservative Party’s imploding 2001 election campaign, made front page news across Britain. Dan has also made a number of acclaimed science documentaries, including films for BBC Horizon and the C4 Equinox strand (for the award nominated Engines That Came In From The Cold.) Our doomed dreams of using technology to control the world around us has been an enduring fascination.

Dan is now looking to make the move into scripted drama, and has been developing a number of projects as Writer/ Director aimed at both the cinema and television. In 2008 Dan’s first screenplay CASTLE ROBIN (supported by Screen South) was selected from over 300 entries for the prestigious Europe-wide EquinoxeTBC script development programme.

He is a former member of the Edinburgh Television Festival Advisory Committee and currently sits on Directors UK Development and Communications Committee.

In 1996, Dan was headhunted by Tony Blair to join the team that delivered his landslide victory as Labour’s Broadcasting supremo, where he worked alongside Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell. Prior to that he was Political Producer on ITN’s BAFTA award-winning Channel Four News.

Dan spent his childhood in Brussels. After returning to the UK he went to Oxford where he gained a First in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and was Editor of student magazine Isis.
